GBC Podcast 006 | "..So we may know them.." A study of the story of Sodom & Gomorrah (Genesis 19:5)

We continue our study of the so-called "Clobber Passages" -- the Scriptures that are said to condemn Gay people, but which fail to do so, upon scriptural examination.

Many people today use the story of Sodom and Gomorrah as "proof" that Gay people are evil and wicked -- as if "Sodom" and "Gay" mean the same thing. But is that really true?

Listen in to our podcast as we talk today about:
  • Who were the people of Sodom and Gomorrah?
  • What were the sins of the "Cities of the Plains"?
  • When did "Sodom" start to mean "homosexuality", in mainstream Christian teaching?
  • What really happened in Sodom that last night before God destroyed it?
  • Why is a sexual interpretation of what happened in Sodom that night a shallow understanding of the Scripture?
  • What did Abraham do that all people of faith should be doing, in dealing with people who choose evil?
  • Why does God have to destroy people sometimes, and why?
  • What is the real message of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, for ALL people?
